Superb Racing at Southerly Regatta 2012

15th May, 2012

The 2012 Southerly Regatta is now underway and will continue for 5 days, 20th-24th May. A fleet of Southerlys made their way along the South Coast to the Royal Western Yacht Club in Plymouth for the start of the 21st Annual Regatta.

After a welcome reception at the RWYC on Sunday evening, the Southerly fleet will be seen racing off Plymouth Sound to Fowey on Monday with the return leg back to Plymouth on Wednesday, followed by a short race off Plymouth Sound on Thursday.

Social functions will take place in the Royal Western Yacht Club in Plymouth, the Royal Fowey Yacht Club and the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth.

John Warne, Managing Director comments "We are delighted that so many Owners have entered the Regatta, whilst most Owners have attended some of our previous events, we would like to make a special welcome to all our new owners some who have travelled from as far afield as New Zealand and America to be here.

The Southerly fleet is certain to look impressive and we are delighted to have our newest Southerly models racing, the Southerly 47 and the Southerly 420, so we shall be watching their performances with interest.

Many of our suppliers have once again been very generous in supporting the Southerly Regatta, and in particular we would like to give special thanks to Raymarine, Greenham Regis, Lombard, Lewmar, North Sails, and Selden who will have representatives here throughout the week.

We are hoping for fair weather, a fantastic week of sailing and may the best man win the Southerly Cup!"
